Purple and White

The origin of school colors can be traced back to the founding of the high school in 1925.  According to an eyewitness account in Buck Ford’s book, Down Trails of Victory, members of the student body adopted purple and white as the official colors of the new high school in Port Neches.  The most likely reason was that Beaumont High School, a school that was admired by many in the area, used royal purple and white as it’s school colors.

The color purple symbolizes royalty, regality, and nobility, and is the perfect color for the strength that the PN-G community represents.

Other high school teams that use purple as a primary color are the Newton Eagles and San Marcos Rattlers.  Purple was also the primary color of the former Lincoln ‘Bumblebees’, and Beaumont High ‘Royal Purples’.

Other Sports Teams

  • The National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings use purple as their primary color, though the Lakers formerly used the term “Forum Blue”, in reference to their old arena The Forum.
  • The National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings use purple as one of their primary colors.
  • In Major League Baseball, purple is one of the primary colors for the Colorado Rockies.
  • In the National Football League, the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens use purple as main colors.
  • In American college athletics, Louisiana State University, Kansas State University, Texas Christian University, the University of Central Arkansas, Northwestern University, the University of Washington, and East Carolina University all have purple as one of their main team colors.
