Call it the controversy that wasn’t.
Perhaps the biggest story coming out of Port Neches-Groves as camp starts is the answered question at starting quarterback.
Coach Brandon Faircloth had the district’s leading passer in senior Ky Walker coming back, but also had the luxury of talented junior Adam Morse.
To utilize both, Faircloth named Morse the starter this week and placed Walker at cornerback, where he led the team in interceptions two years ago.
“We had to do what was best for the team and do what’s best for Ky and Adam,” Faircloth said. “And they both had to play. We can’t rotate quarterbacks and we wanted Ky out there for every play.”
Walker said his experience behind center has eased the move to cornerback.
“I feel real comfortable in the secondary,” Walker said. “As a quarterback, you study opposing secondaries so being on the other side of the ball is not new to me. I wouldn’t say it’s easy, but it’s not too hard because I know schemes.”
