Roschon Johnson and a strong defense were too much for the previously undefeated Bulldogs to handle on a cold, windy night in Port Neches.
Both teams slugged out a 7-7 halftime tie. The second half was a different story with the Tribe outscoring Nederland 27-14, led by a dominating defensive performance by the Indians with two interceptions.
With the win the Indians finish the season with at least a share of the 12-5A district championship for a 4th consecutive season.
Port Neches-Groves (7-3, 6-1) will host their bi-district game in Indian Stadium next week. Nederland (9-1, 6-1) will also host a playoff game next week.
