Former Houston Oilers head coach Bum Phillips and son Wade Phillips, the former Dallas Cowboys head coach and current Houston Texans defensive coordinator, will be guests on the Fox Sports Southwest High School FootballFriday this week.
The coaches will be on the set at the Nederland vs. Port Neches-Groves football game on Friday.
Bum Phillips coached at Nederland and Port Neches-Groves and Wade Phillips played for Port Neches-Groves.
The game is the marquee matchup for this week’sFox Sports Southwest Football Friday, a partnership with Texas Football magazine which features four consecutive hours of live high school football programming spread over three shows from 7-11 p.m.
Bum Phillips, who will attend special street-naming ceremonies in his honor earlier in the day in Nederland and Port Neches. He’ll then conduct the pregame coin toss at Indian Stadium to start the rivalry game. Wade Phillips, will attend the game with his father and break down the matchup on the Fox Football Friday set.
“We’re honored to have two Texas coaching icons join us on Friday,” said Fox Sports Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke. “They embody the true spirit of high school football in Texas. They both have enjoyed successful careers in collegiate and professional football, but they haven’t forgotten how important high school football is to local communities in Texas. It should be wonderful night.”
