During the 1974-1977 football seasons, the Port Neches-Groves Indians achieved a 52-6 record, 25 consecutive wins, 15 playoff wins, 4 semi-final game appearances, 2 state championship appearances, and a 1975 AAAA state championship win over the Odessa Permian Panthers. 23 PN-G players received All-State recognition during that period.
The majority of those playoff games were played in the Houston Astrodome where the Indian players dominated and PN-G fans drove attendance records that still stand out today.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 1975 State Championship, these pages appeared in the October 17, 2015 edition of The Port Arthur News. To obtain a complete copy of this 20 page publication, visit Project Graduation and send an email requesting details.
