Jeff Joseph’s long list of accomplishments as Port Neches-Groves’ first-year football coach continued Thursday with another award.
Joseph was named winner of the 4th Annual National Football Foundation Bum Phillips Golden Triangle High School Coach of the Year Award. Port Neches-Groves went 13-3 and appeared in the Class 5A-II state title game during Joseph’s first year as head coach.
A Balfour ring designed in Phillips’ image was presented to Joseph during a ceremony at the Museum of the Gulf Coast. Todd Dodge, a former Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson All-American quarterback and seven-time state championship coach, presented Joseph with the award.
Joseph was named in December as the 2022 Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold Coach of the Year. Previous winners of the Bum Phillips award are Silsbee’s Randy Smith, Nederland’s Monte Barrow and Eric Peevey of Little Cypress-Mauriceville.
